Research Analyst

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team in the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) unit. This role involves conducting in-depth research, benchmarking, and analysis to support risk assessments, strategic decision-making, and Board-level reporting.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Business/Financials
  • Benchmark the balance sheet against peers, including Small Finance Banks, Universal banks, and peer Non-Banking Financial Companies.
  • Perform ratio analysis and interpret trends on capital adequacy, Net Interest Margin, cost-to-income, credit costs, Gross Non-Performing Assets/Net Non-Performing Assets, Return on Assets, and Return on Equity.
  • Track and interpret peer disclosures, investor presentations, call transcripts, and annual reports for risk and performance insights.
  • Research and review business models of peers across retail, Microfinance, Housing, and other segments.
  • Prepare structured notes on emerging sectors risks, competitive strategies, and market positioning, and deliver insights on yields, risk-adjusted returns, portfolio vulnerabilities, and key risk drivers.
  • Monitor various pricing strategies adopted in credit products and implement Risk-Based Pricing in compliance with Regulatory requirements.
Customer
  • Prepare sectoral risk outlooks for housing finance, Microfinance, gold loans, and vehicle loans, including early warning signals from global and domestic economic trends.
  • Prepare and publish integrated risk scores for key SBUs and engage with SBUs to ensure implementation of corrective measures by the first line.
  • Contribute to risk posture reports, Board-level dashboards, and other reporting aspects on risk management at various committees/forums.
  • Conduct State-Level Risk Connect (SLRC) meetings on an ongoing basis and engage with regional leadership teams, branch supervisors/officers to understand field-level insights on customers and staff.
Innovation & Learning
  • Update knowledge on laws and regulations related to business.
  • Contribute to content preparation and learning materials for various risk-related training programs.
  • Pursue relevant courses for cross-learning and prepare for growth opportunities.
  • Visit Field/Branch to stay updated on Banking Operations and area-related issues.
Requirements:
  • Postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, or related fields (MBA/PGDM, FRM, CFA preferred).
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in research, financial analysis, consulting, or enterprise risk.
  • Certifications on FRM/PRM are an added plus.
  • Understanding of data required for bank-wide risk metrics analysis.
  • Conceptual thinking ability to interpret business models, balance sheets, peer bank performance, financial soundness, and inherent risks.
  • Elementary knowledge of Banking operations.

This role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
