Cloud Automation Engineer

At Canonical, we're seeking a skilled Cloud Automation Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing, delivering, and supporting features in a highly concurrent, distributed system that drives cloud automation and software operations at scale.

This is a Globally remote role with opportunities for travel. As a Cloud Automation Engineer, you'll collaborate proactively with a distributed team, debug issues, interact with upstream communities publicly, and work with talented engineers on finding good solutions.

  • Own the design, delivery, and support of features in a highly concurrent, highly distributed system.

We're looking for individuals with hands-on experience developing highly concurrent distributed systems, excellent communication skills in English, and an exceptional academic track record. Experience with agile software development methodologies is also essential.

The following skills may be helpful in this role:

  • Experience with container technologies (Docker, LXD, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with Go programming language.
  • Solid networking background and experience.

Data Engineering and Architecture

  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain large-scale data processing systems.

Cloud and Infrastructure Management

  • Manage and optimize cloud resources and infrastructure to meet business needs.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud computing.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as AWS Certified Developer or Azure Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Experience with cloud security and compliance frameworks.
