Hedge Fund Operations Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional to join our team as a Hedge Fund Operations Specialist. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our hedge fund portfolios through thorough net asset value (NAV) calculations, profit and loss (P&L) reconciliation, and cash reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Net Asset Value Calculations: Prepare and review daily, weekly, and monthly NAV calculations for hedge fund portfolios, ensuring accurate reporting and operational efficiency.
  • P&L Reconciliation: Perform P&L reconciliation between fund administrator reports, internal records, and prime broker statements, identifying discrepancies and resolving them promptly.
  • Cash Reconciliation: Conduct cash reconciliation across custodians, banks, and internal systems, verifying the accuracy of cash transactions and positions.
  • Investigation and Resolution: Investigate and resolve discrepancies in positions, pricing, fees, and expenses, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Month-End and Year-End Closing Processes: Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and accruals, ensuring timely completion and accuracy.
  • Performance Reporting: Support performance reporting and investor statements, providing insights into portfolio performance and trends.
  • Trade Settlement and Reporting: Coordinate with fund administrators, prime brokers, and custodians to ensure accurate trade settlement and reporting, maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Portfolio Data Validation: Collaborate with portfolio managers and risk teams to validate portfolio data and performance metrics, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Process Improvement: Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy, implementing best practices and technologies.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in fund accounting or hedge fund operations, preferably with exposure to NAV calculation and reconciliation processes.
  • Financial Knowledge: Strong understanding of financial instruments, including derivatives, securities, and other financial products.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel, knowledge of fund accounting software is an advantage.
  • Skill Set: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work accurately under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
