Senior Mechanical Design Expert

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design, coordination, and implementation of plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and firefighting systems for various projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial developments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Developing appropriate plumbing systems for the project, encompassing domestic water, sanitary, storm water, hot water, gas systems, etc.
• Collaborating with senior engineers to perform calculations and design optimizations.
• Designing and developing plumbing system layouts, including pipe sizing and equipment selection, to ensure efficient and effective operations.
• Utilizing knowledge of International Plumbing design codes to ensure compliance and adherence to safety standards.
• Proficiency in Revit and ability to work in BIM environment, facilitating seamless integration with other disciplines.
• Effective collaboration with electrical, structural, architectural, landscape, and other disciplines to develop comprehensive designs.
• Experience in LEED and sustainable design projects, prioritizing environmental responsibility and energy efficiency.
• Conducting heat load calculations using tools like HAP (Hourly Analysis Program) to determine heating and cooling requirements for buildings.
• Designing HVAC systems, including water-cooled and air-cooled chiller plants, Variable Refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, Direct Expansion (DX) systems, etc., to meet project specifications.
• Selecting equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, VRF systems, fan coil units, air handling units (AHUs), fans, and DX units based on project requirements.
• Calculating ventilation requirements, pressurization needs, smoke management systems, pump head calculations, external static pressure, and sizing ducts and pipes to ensure optimal system performance.
• Coordinating HVAC designs with architecture, structural engineering, electrical engineering, and other disciplines to guarantee coordinated project delivery.
• Applying knowledge of international codes and standards in HVAC system design to ensure compliance and adherence to safety regulations.
• Planning and designing various HVAC systems considering energy efficiency, sustainability, and indoor air quality to provide a healthy working environment.
• Proficiency in Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools like Navisworks and BIM Collaboration (BIM 360) to facilitate collaborative project delivery.
• Preparing technical reports, specifications, take-off sheets, and bill of quantities (BOQ) for HVAC systems to ensure accurate documentation.
• Participating in project meetings, providing technical insights, and resolving engineering issues as they arise to ensure project success.
• Specialized coursework or certification in HVAC systems is beneficial for career advancement.
• Proven experience in HVAC system design, heat load calculations, equipment selection, and system optimization is essential for this role.
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and refrigeration cycles is crucial for designing efficient HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with various HVAC equipment, controls, and components is necessary for selecting the right equipment for the project.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required to troubleshoot complex HVAC issues effectively.
• Effective communication skills are necessary to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure coordinated project delivery.
• Designing fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and hydrants, according to national and international codes to ensure safety and compliance.
• Performing hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems, ensuring proper coverage and compliance with safety standards, is critical for designing effective fire protection systems.
• Designing and laying out fire detection and alarm systems, integrating them with other building services, to ensure seamless operation.
• Reviewing fire protection system submittals and ensuring compliance with safety regulations to guarantee project success.
• Coordinating with fire protection authorities and building inspectors for approval and compliance checks to ensure project completion.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (B.E/B.Tech/master's in mechanical)
• 8 to 15 years of experience in plumbing/HVAC & Firefighting
