The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled MERCHANDISER to join our apparel team, responsible for developing and progressing their career to the next level. The successful candidate will be part of a global supply chain network, working closely with suppliers across the globe to source products that meet our strategy and maximise margin.

Main Responsibilities

  • Keep up-to-date on market trends and innovations, understanding market dynamics and correlating how to gain advantage and mitigate risk.
  • Develop product as per price hierarchy of the category, initiating and proposing new ideas to create value within the product for our customers and proactively addressing challenges with possible solutions.
  • Build strong partnerships with relevant teams across the business and engage with and influence all key stakeholders.
  • Communicate with Category, Design, and quality teams, and suppliers on technical issues and problem resolution.
  • Capable of working with suppliers across the globe, unlocking suppliers' true potential to source products as per strategy.
  • Negotiate for mutual outcomes and development of strategic partnerships and build both short-term and long-term plans with suppliers.
  • Product costing and negotiation to maximise margin and ensure transparency.
  • Manage supplier relationships and track suppliers' performance to ensure critical path timeframes are met.
  • Monitor production orders and maintain a close understanding of shipment schedules to ensure the flow of production and shipment on time.
  • Regularly coordinate with the supplier and team to guarantee timely resolution of risks and meet essential milestone dates for approval actions and production.
  • Role-model desired behaviours and values, demonstrating a strong work ethic in a hybrid model, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 4-6 years of overall experience in sourcing/merchandising, minimum 3 years in a brand office.
  • Thorough understanding of market competition on the retail space and ability to create ideas and offers to stay ahead in competition.
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, preferably from a textile background.
  • Excellent product knowledge and clear understanding of relevant manufacturing processes.
  • Good command of both spoken and written English to communicate well with key stakeholders.
  • Extremely strong data management skills, able to create relevant reports and insights.
  • Demonstrated supply and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of sustainability.
  • Knowledge and experience in PLMS systems would be an advantage.
  • Good command of both spoken and written English and Hindi. Knowing Tamil will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work remotely with suppliers in other Asian countries.

Earnings Estimate

Based on industry standards and location, we estimate this role to earn around $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
