Weather Intelligence Expert

We are seeking an experienced Weather Intelligence Expert to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in climatology and a passion for developing innovative weather forecasting solutions.

Job Summary

The Weather Intelligence Expert will be responsible for curating and analyzing large datasets related to weather patterns, including rainfall histories, radar, satellite, oceanographic, and aviation data. They will also develop methodologies for quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE) and current estimation (QCE). Additionally, the expert will guide the assimilation of rainfall, currents, waves, and tide datasets into unified models, collaborate on AI-driven forecasting, and establish skill metrics for validation against gauges and station networks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Curate and analyze climate datasets from various sources, including ERA5, CMIP6, IMERG, HYCOM, CMEMS, buoy & radar archives.
  • Develop and implement methodologies for QPE and QCE.
  • Guide the assimilation of rainfall, currents, waves, and tide datasets into unified models.
  • Collaborate with the AI/ML team to design and implement AI-driven forecasting solutions.
  • Establish and maintain skill metrics for validation against gauges and station networks.
Requirements:
  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Climatology, Meteorology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in weather intelligence or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and programming languages such as Python and R.
