Job Description

The Head of Engineering plays a pivotal role in driving engineering excellence across large-scale steel plant projects. This leadership position demands exceptional strategic thinking, technical expertise, and project management skills to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the overall engineering strategy, aligning with project goals, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the conceptual design, feasibility studies, and detailed engineering phases to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Manage the selection and engagement of EPC contractors, consultants, and vendors to optimize project delivery.
  • Ensure integration of all engineering disciplines for a cohesive and optimized plant design that meets international codes and best practices.
  • Maintain compliance with national and international regulations, standards, and guidelines to mitigate risks.
  • Oversee review and approval of engineering deliverables to guarantee quality and accuracy.
  • Implement robust quality control procedures to prevent defects and rework.
  • Drive value engineering initiatives to optimize design and reduce costs without compromising safety or quality.
  • Manage the engineering schedule and budget, identifying potential deviations and implementing corrective actions to stay on track.
  • Coordinate with procurement, construction, and operations teams for seamless project execution and effective communication.
  • Resolve technical issues and challenges during all project phases to ensure timely completion and customer satisfaction.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

This role requires a strong background in engineering (Metallurgical, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering) with a bachelor's degree. A master's degree in engineering or business administration is highly desirable.

Minimum 20-25 years of experience in progressive engineering roles within heavy industrial projects, with at least 5-10 years in leadership/head of engineering capacity for steel plant projects.
