Project Manager - Personal Information Protection Act

The ideal candidate will lead the implementation of a comprehensive personal information protection framework across all business units, ensuring alignment with Bermuda's data protection regulations modeled on GDPR.

A US-based IT company is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee a critical PIPA project for one of their banking clients in Bermuda. This role requires strong stakeholder management and communication skills to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable business processes.

About the Role:

  • Manage end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of the compliance program, ensuring timely completion within budget and scope.
  • Conduct a thorough assessment of current data privacy policies, systems, and processes to identify gaps against PIPA requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance tracking and accountability.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing regulatory or compliance-driven projects in the financial services sector.
  • In-depth understanding of data privacy regulations, including PIPA and GDPR.
  • Strong change management and business process re-engineering skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the implementation of the PIPA compliance framework across all business units.
  2. Conduct a comprehensive assessment of current data privacy policies, systems, and processes.
  3. Work with Legal, Risk, IT Security, Compliance, and Business Units to define and implement appropriate controls.
  4. Oversee the development of data mapping and inventory.
  5. Establish governance structures and reporting mechanisms.
  6. Manage vendor relationships and third-party assessments.
  7. Design and facilitate training and awareness programs.
  8. Serve as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
