Job Title: Financial Leadership Expert

About the Role:

The Finance Audit Specialist is a crucial leadership position responsible for overseeing the overall financial management, reporting, and control functions of an organization.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Financial Strategy and Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive financial strategy in alignment with the organization's strategic objectives.
    • Provide strategic financial guidance to senior management on financial planning, resource allocation, and decision-making.
    • Monitor financial performance against budgets and plans, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Internal Controls and Risk Management:
    • Establish a robust internal audit framework and policies aligned with international best practices.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify key areas of financial risk and develop a risk-based audit plan.
    • Perform independent internal audits of financial transactions, processes, and systems to assess compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • World-Class Financial Systems Implementation:
    • Evaluate and select an integrated, world-class financial management system that meets the organization's current and future needs.
    • Configure and customize the financial system to align with specific requirements and accounting practices.
    • Migrate financial data from legacy systems to the new financial system, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Treasury and Cash Management:
    • Manage cash flow and investments, ensuring optimal liquidity and returns while minimizing risk.
    • Negotiate banking relationships, securing favorable terms and conditions.
  • Compliance and Governance:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards.
    • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets and prevent fraud.
  • Financial Accounting and Reporting:
    • Oversight of financial accounting, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, and fixed asset management.
    • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Support annual budgeting process, working collaboratively with departments to develop realistic budgets.
    • Develop financial forecasting models to project future performance and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Grant Management and Project Oversight:
    • Establish robust financial controls for grants and project funding, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
    • Monitor project expenditures and ensure funds are used for intended purposes.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
    • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for professional growth.
