Oracle Database Engineer Job Description

Our organization is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Engineer to fill a critical role within our team. In this position, you will be responsible for performing standardized operations, health checks, and troubleshooting for Oracle databases on Exadata platforms with GoldenGate replication.

This key role involves executing RMAN backup/restore activities, applying database patches, and performing routine changes under change control. You will also be responsible for monitoring GoldenGate processes, reviewing alerts, and triaging alarms. Furthermore, you will gather diagnostics, restore services where possible, and escalate incidents to higher levels with clear context.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operations & Monitoring: Run daily health checks on Oracle environments and Exadata components, monitor GoldenGate processes, and review alerts.
  • Backups, Patching & Changes: Execute RMAN backup/restore activities, apply database patches, and perform routine changes under change control.
  • Incident Response & Escalation: Triage alarms, gather diagnostics, and restore services where possible; escalate incidents to higher levels with clear context.
  • Security & Compliance: Enforce security policies, maintain CMDB records, and ensure least-privilege access.
  • Documentation & Collaboration: Update runbooks, knowledge articles, and collaborate with application and infrastructure teams.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • ~1 year of hands-on Oracle DBA experience with user/admin tasks and schema management.
  • Basic understanding of Exadata concepts and Linux administration.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle GoldenGate fundamentals and RMAN.
