
IP Transport Specialist

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled IP transport professional to join our team. This role involves working with IP transport equipment, evaluating its relevance to current requirements, and maintaining Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The ideal candidate will have intermediate-level knowledge of IP Transport and relevant certifications such as Cisco CCNP or Juniper JNCIP.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete build, support, and investigation tasks using department instructions, tools, and process as a guide.
- Evaluate IP transport equipment for relevance to current requirements and adherence to the live network roadmap.
- Maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) where feasible and work towards early resolution in case of SLA non-compliance.
- Identify technical solutions to prevent repeated issue raisings, plan their implementation, assess impact, and make agreed changes.
- Develop expertise in multiple areas to enhance Test Facility understanding and overall knowledge.
- Define proactive work to maintain the test estate's usability for integration, test, and development communities, driving improvements in team working and technical methods.
- Implement changes to improve local processes and represent the team as a process owner.
- Configure and troubleshoot PKI CA certificates systems for secure authentication and communication.
- Ensure adherence to company Health and Safety policy and provide guidance to Environment Managers on IP Transport details.
- Foster collaboration between tech labs, Service Architecture, and Operational design teams for live alignment in labs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Intermediate-level knowledge of IP Transport.
- Cisco CCNP, Juniper JNCIP, or Nokia NRS-2 certification or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in CheckPoint/Fortinet Firewall product families.
- Strong energy, passion, and commitment.
- Excellent breadth of knowledge in other technical areas, including Core, RAN, IP, or VASI, Network Support, Facility Services.
- Ability to describe key mobile network components and understand their interactions.
- Understanding of call routing and system interactions.
- Knowledge of Testing and Project Life-cycles.
- Experience in Operation & Maintenance.
- Ability to interpret and implement complex transport designs within test and proof of concept networks.
- Technical experience with interior routing protocols like Integrated IS-IS and OSPF.
- Experience with internet routing and architecture, including BGP4 implementation.
- Quality of Service (DiffServ, HQoS, MPLS EXP) implementation expertise.
- Technical experience with modern and legacy Data Centre and LAN switching technologies.
- Engineering, Science, or IT-based degree or equivalent experience.
- Ansible Automation and Mobile Backhaul Networking skills.
