Storage Engineer: The Role and Responsibilities

Job Description:

Our organization is seeking an experienced Storage Engineer to provide level 2 and level 3 support for storage systems in a mission-critical environment. As a key member of our IT team, you will be responsible for performing daily health checks, monitoring, and routine tasks using runbooks.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular maintenance activities, including backups and restores, under change and supervision.
  • Acknowledge and triage alerts; log and update incidents in ServiceNow/BMC.
  • Execute scheduled jobs and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
  • Escalate issues to L2/L3 with accurate diagnostics, logs, and metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning (DR/BCP) exercises to maintain platform readiness.
  • Document all activities, including troubleshooting steps and solutions, to improve knowledge sharing and reduce downtime.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in storage administration (SAN, NAS, ECS)
  • Knowledge of ITIL Processes, Incident Management, and ServiceNow
  • Experience with Dell EMC, Cisco, and other relevant technologies
