Job Title: Music Programming Manager

This is a key role within our team, responsible for developing and implementing the overall music programming strategy.

  • Content Strategy & Curation:
    • Develop an in-depth understanding of our target audience's musical preferences to curate content that resonates with them.
    • Design editorial calendars for playlists, campaigns, seasons, and creator trends to ensure consistency and engagement.
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams to align genre/mood/topic coverage with business goals.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration:
    • Lead a high-performing team of curators, playlist editors, or content managers to achieve collective goals.
    • Establish strong relationships with Music Acquisition, A&R, Marketing, Product, and Data teams to drive curation decisions.
    • Utilize data insights and market trends to inform curation strategies and guide the team towards excellence.
  • User & Market Insights:
    • Conduct research to understand the needs and behaviors of our core users – Brands, Businesses, and YouTubers.
    • Leverage data analytics to identify content gaps and opportunities for growth.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest content trends on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and other platforms to adjust programming accordingly.
  • Campaigns & Discovery:
    • Conceptualize and execute thematic campaigns like 'Summer Essentials,' 'Creator Favorites,' or 'Top Songs for Gaming.'
    • Optimize playlist placements and homepage content to increase track discovery, downloads, and licensing.
    • Collaborate with marketing teams to coordinate artist spotlights, new release pushes, or seasonal rollouts.
  • Content Performance Monitoring:
    • Track and analyze the performance of playlists and curated collections in terms of engagement, usage, and downloads.
    • Test and iterate based on what's working or not – with a product mindset.

Requirements:

  • 4–6 years of experience in music programming, editorial curation, or content strategy at a music-tech company, DSP, media platform, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of music genres, moods, and social media use cases.
  • Proven ability to lead curation initiatives across multiple genres and formats, with a keen sense of music discovery and audience needs.
  • Comfortable working with data to make content decisions; experience interpreting dashboards or using tools like Mixpanel is a plus.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product, marketing, A&R, and content operations teams.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines, campaigns, and curation calendars.
  • A strong global music sensibility with the ability to spot trends across platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
