Job Description:

As a senior-level medical coding professional, you will be responsible for conducting thorough audits of inpatient medical records to ensure accurate assignment of codes and DRGs. This role involves mentoring and training junior coders, providing constructive feedback, and facilitating ongoing education.

This position requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. You will work closely with clinical documentation specialists to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of inpatient DRG coding for accuracy, compliance, and clear documentation.
  • Ensure the assignment of codes and DRGs is fully supported by clinical details.
  • Verify the specificity of all procedures, diagnoses, discharge disposition, and POA status.
  • Mentor, train, and provide ongoing feedback to coders and documentation specialists.
  • Adhere to quality and production targets.
  • Escalate issues, identify coding or documentation trends for process improvements.
  • Maintain daily logs (productivity, clarification, other applicable logs).
  • Communicate regularly with Managers/TLs and respond promptly to requests.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in inpatient DRG coding and auditing.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with 3M software and NLP coding tools.
  • Excellent communication abilities, flexibility, and teamwork orientation.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to evolving client/project needs.

Additional Requirements:

  • Graduation is mandatory.
  • Must hold one of the following certifications: CCS, CIC, CPC, GIC, COC, CRC.
  • Previous experience in the US healthcare domain is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a hybrid work model.
