Lead Animal Care Manager

Job Overview:

We seek a seasoned and compassionate Lead Animal Care Manager to oversee daily operations at our animal sanctuary. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of animals in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of daily shelter operations, guaranteeing animal welfare and effective staff management.
  • Staff Supervision: Train and lead shelter staff in animal care procedures, shelter policies, and workplace safety protocols.
  • Animal Health Management: Coordinate and execute proper feeding, grooming, medical care, and enrichment activities for all animals under our care.
  • Facility Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain kennels and common areas, upholding strict hygiene standards.
  • Adoption Process: Manage adoption applications, matching animals with suitable homes.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of animal intake, health status, adoption outcomes, and operational performance.
  • Community Outreach: Foster partnerships with local organizations, promote animal welfare education, and coordinate community events.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant animal care regulations and industry standards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated empathy and compassion towards animals.
  • Proven experience in animal care, health, and pet care services.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Animal Science or related field preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience in animal care settings is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

The ability to lift heavy animals and equipment, as well as work in varied environmental conditions, may be required.
