Database Leadership Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Database Administrator to oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our database systems.

  • Job Description:
  • The Lead DBA will be responsible for ensuring database performance, security, and availability.
  • Guide a team of database administrators and engineers.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of relational and non-relational database systems.
  • Manage database capacity planning, performance tuning, backup, and recovery strategies.
  • Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Implement database patches, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime.
  • Leadership & Team Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of database administrators.
  • Allocate tasks, monitor workload, and provide technical guidance to the DBA team.
  • Act as the escalation point for critical database issues.
  • Performance Optimization & Scalability:
  • Analyze and optimize database queries, indexes, and stored procedures.
  • Design and implement solutions for scalability.
  • Collaborate with developers and system architects to optimize application-database interactions.
  • Mission Critical Initiatives:
  • Work with application development and infrastructure teams to align database strategies with organizational goals.
  • Support cloud migration initiatives and hybrid database solutions.
  • Provide strategic recommendations for database technologies and tools.
  • Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Implement monitoring tools to track database performance, capacity, and availability.
  • Prepare regular reports on system health, incidents, and optimization opportunities.
  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor/Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 8-10 years of proven experience as a DBA, with at least 3-5 years in a lead or managerial role.
  • Expertise in RDBMS and experience with NoSQL databases.
  • Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based databases.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages for automation.
  • Excellent understanding of database security and compliance frameworks.
  • Preferred Attributes:
  • Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator.
  • Experience in big data, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
  • Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code.
