Network Security Engineer

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in network and/or SRE roles with hands-on firewall expertise (Palo Alto preferred), including deployment, upgrades, and compliance evidence collection.

Familiarity with microservices environments and the unique network/compliance needs they introduce is also desirable.

We are seeking a Network Security Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in network security, with a focus on designing, deploying, and managing secure networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, deployment, and management of secure networks, including switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Implement and automate regular network infrastructure audits and compliance checks using Ansible, Python, Bash, and IAC tools (Terraform, Crossplane).
  • Manage OS upgrades, routing changes, ACL/firewall updates, and ensure change control processes align with compliance requirements.
  • Oversee deployment and full lifecycle management of NGFW solutions (especially Palo Alto), including rule reviews, vulnerability mitigation, and audit preparation.
  • Secure, segment, and manage network resources across AWS (preferred), Azure, and GCP; integrate security best practices and compliance controls.
  • Respond to security/network incidents, perform traffic/port scans, document findings, and lead post-mortems to reduce risks and maintain audit trails.
  • Work with vendors, workplace, compliance, and development teams to deliver reliable, compliant infrastructure and integrate controls into CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab, Chef, Puppet).
  • Implement advanced monitoring and SIEM tooling to achieve real-time, auditable visibility into network and cloud health; proactively detect issues and support compliance documentation.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in network and/or SRE roles with hands-on firewall expertise (Palo Alto preferred).
  • Familiarity with microservices environments and the unique network/compliance needs they introduce.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and practices.
  • Experience with network automation tools (Ansible, Python, Bash, Terraform, Crossplane).
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations (PCI/SOX/HIPAA) and ability to implement auditing and reporting.
