Financial Crime Surveillance Specialist

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Financial Crime Surveillance Specialist at HSBC.

Job DescriptionAs a Financial Crime Surveillance Specialist, you will play a critical role in identifying potential new forms of staff or counterparty misconduct. Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying potential risks and opportunities for improvement in our surveillance processes.
- Liaising with the Product Management and Transformation Team to develop and implement new systems, processes, and data sets needed to identify emerging risks.
- Inputting into and tracking the development of these new surveillance capabilities.
- Dealing with alerts once they have been passed through a first review.
- Ensuring that all alerts are satisfactorily escalated and resolved.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong understanding of the rules relevant to trading and sales activities for Equities, Options, Money Market, Foreign Exchange, and Fixed Income.
- Expert knowledge of financial markets and traded products.
- Demonstrable experience (3 or more years) working in a Surveillance role, with consideration given to those with Compliance Advisory or Front-office experience.
- Ability to support decisions with sound reasoning and clearly articulate business and regulatory implications of analysis and findings.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in Visual Basic for Applications and macros an asset.
