System Automation Specialist

The role of a System Automation Specialist is to design, develop and implement control, protection and substation automation systems for various power system equipment. This involves creating detailed designs, documentation and calculations for the systems, as well as preparing project scope documents.

As a System Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for working with clients to understand their requirements and prepare proposals for the projects. You will also be involved in the preparation of project documentation, including basic and detailed design documentation, bills of material and schematic preparations.

Additionally, you will need to have knowledge of various bus arrangements and be able to prepare control and protection schematic preparations for various power system equipment. You should also have experience with CAD based systems and be familiar with different serial and ethernet based protocols used in substation automation systems.

Other responsibilities of this role include discussing drawings with customers for approval and resolution of queries, initiating loadings to factory for material procurement, fabrication and wiring of the systems under scope, and supporting sales, testing and commissioning teams as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • B. Tech / B.E in Electrical/Electronic Engineering/Equivalent
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience (2-5 years can be considered)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Agile learner with ability to work independently or as a team player
  • Critical thinking, quality consciousness, reasoning and problem solving
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Good knowledge of basic computer applications, specifically Excel, Word, Power Point etc.
  • E Base software knowledge is an added advantage
