Job Summary and Responsibilities:

  • We are seeking an experienced Database Architectural Specialist to design, implement, and maintain MySQL database instances in AWS environments.
  • The successful candidate will optimize database performance through tuning, indexing, and scaling, as well as monitor database systems to ensure high availability, security, and performance.
  • A key responsibility of this role is to manage backup and recovery strategies in accordance with company policies.
  • Collaboration with development teams to design database schemas that support application requirements is essential.
  • This position requires the ability to troubleshoot database-related issues and provide corrective actions.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with implementing and maintaining database security best practices.
  • Staying current with database technologies, AWS services, and industry trends is crucial for this role.
  • The selected individual will also be responsible for performing database migrations between different AWS regions or instances.
  • Experience with Mongodb, Postgres clustering solutions, including installation, replication, and sharding, is highly desirable.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a MySQL Database Administrator in production environments is essential.
  • Knowledge of DR setup, active-active master, active-passive master is necessary.
  • Extensive knowledge on mysql partitioning is required.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., EC2, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, S3, Redshift) is essential.
  • A strong understanding of database architecture, replication, and clustering is necessary.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries is required.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and monitoring tools is essential.
  • The ability to troubleshoot and resolve database integrity issues, performance bottlenecks, and replication issues is crucial.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation tasks is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills are necessary.
  • Experience with other database technologies (Mongodb, Postgres, Cassandra) is highly desirable.
  • An understanding of Postgres database, including replication & backup, is required.
  • The selected individual should be able to provide 24*7 support and be familiar with on-call rotation.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
