Solar Design Expert

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled solar design expert with strong expertise in SketchUp to drive our design efforts forward. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in creating 2D and 3D solar rooftop designs, with the ability to model solar panels, mounting structures, and rooftop obstacles accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop accurate 2D and 3D rooftop solar designs in SketchUp using technical knowledge and a design-oriented mindset to ensure efficient, practical, and aesthetically aligned solar solutions.
  • Create SketchUp models (solar panels, mounting structures, rooftop elements, obstacles) with precise dimensions to meet technical and structural requirements.
  • Utilize the mounting structure library to design panel layouts that incorporate rooftop obstacles such as water tanks, HVAC systems, and vents.
  • Makes design decisions regarding gaps for cleaning and maintenance access, overhangs for maximum generation while ensuring safety and feasibility, and multiple views and scenes in SketchUp to communicate design intent.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in SketchUp solar design, preferably on rooftop PV projects.
  • Strong understanding of rooftop solar project requirements, shading considerations, and structural layouts.
  • Ability to interpret technical inputs into workable models, including site surveys, roof dimensions, and structural drawings.
  • Familiarity with solar mounting structures and the ability to apply them within designs.
  • Attention to detail for accurate modeling and measurements.
