Job Role:

We are seeking experienced credit professionals with a strong background in mortgage underwriting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assessing home loan applications, ensuring high-quality credit decisions, and collaborating with stakeholders across geographies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Carry out thorough assessments and decision-making of home loan/mortgage applications based on relevant guidelines.
  • Verify income details, conduct credit checks, review property valuations, and assess lending risks.
  • Maintain open communication channels with lenders and internal teams to clarify any documentation gaps or discrepancies.
  • Deliver timely and accurate credit decisions while meeting established standards.
  • Guarantee adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Support the growth and development of junior underwriters by sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Compile reports on key performance indicators such as pipeline quality metrics.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage underwriting.
  • Strong understanding of credit policies, responsible lending guidelines, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with multiple lenders is an advantage.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines.

Desirable Skills:

  • Certification in mortgage lending or credit assessment.
  • Experience with various income types including PAYG, self-employed, rental, foreign income.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit bureaus and their reporting mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with verification tools and fraud detection systems used in the mortgage ecosystem.
