Job Purpose

As a key member of the Aditya Birla Group's R&D team, this role is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring R&D projects focused on synthesis of novel polymers, resin modification, coating & hardener formulation, and system development for civil & coatings applications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Synthesis and Formulation Development

  • Conduct literature searches to stay updated on recent developments and technologies, and design products for future demands.
  • Implement new processes and methodologies to achieve product performance, and prioritize developmental works.
  • Provide technical support during customer complaint investigations and implement prompt technical services.

2. Process Development and Scale-up Operations

  • Monitor process and quality parameters, and maintain related documents.
  • Coordinate with the scale-up team to transfer technology from lab to pilot scale.
  • Delegate tasks to prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for scale-up activities while ensuring safety precautions.

3. Support QA for Raw Materials Quality & Specification

  • Coordinate with the Purchase and QA teams to ensure received raw materials meet quality norms.
  • Explore alternative raw material sources with the Purchase team to ensure uninterrupted production schedules.

4. Intellectual Property (IP) Generation

  • Review product and process developments with the DH to identify opportunities for IP generation.
  • Participate in training programs related to IP.

5. Support in Planning, Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Support in preparing annual budgets aligned with R&D activities.
  • Support in maintaining R&D expenditure for effective cost control.

6. Support to System Management

  • Support WCM practices and other systems.
  • Implement audit reports and plan for improvement, and carry out implementation.

7. Safe & Healthy Working Environment

  • Implement occupational health and safety procedures thoroughly at the work area.
  • Ensure compliance with safety norms and policies.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and machinery are in safe places and operate properly.
  • Provide employees with necessary information, instruction, and training for safe job execution.
  • Regularly monitor and consult with employees about health and safety at the workplace.
  • Ensure all employees undergo safety training programs.
  • Review and emphasize safe working practices regularly with all employees.
