Job Title: System Programmer for Messaging Infrastructure

Are you a seasoned professional in system programming with expertise in messaging infrastructure? We are seeking an experienced System Programmer to administer and support IBM MQ Series and File Transfer Edition (FTE) on the z/OS platform. The ideal candidate will ensure a secure, reliable, and high-performing messaging environment that supports enterprise applications and batch processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Install, configure, and maintain IBM MQ Series and MQ FTE on z/OS.
  2. Manage MQ objects including queue managers, queues, channels, and cluster configurations.
  3. Monitor MQ performance and availability, applying tuning techniques to optimize throughput and reduce latency.

Upgrade Support:

  1. Plan and execute upgrades of MQ Series and FTE components on z/OS.
  2. Conduct compatibility checks, regression testing, and rollback planning.
  3. Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure minimal disruption during upgrades.
  4. Maintain detailed documentation and version control records for upgrades.

Security & Compliance:

  1. Implement and manage MQ security protocols including TLS/SSH certificates, RACF integration, and security exits.
  2. Ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards for secure messaging environments.

System Programming & Integration:

  1. Support integration of MQ with z/OS subsystems including CICS, DB2, and IMS.
  2. Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX, JCL, or Assembler for MQ operations.

Disaster Recovery & High Availability:

  1. Design and implement MQ Queue Sharing Groups and RESLEVEL configurations for high availability.
  2. Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and failover strategies for MQ environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with IBM MQ on z/OS.
  • Deep understanding of MQ Queue Sharing Groups, FTE configurations, and MQ monitoring tools.
  • Proficiency in COBOL, REXX, JCL, and related language tools.

Preferred Certifications:

  • IBM MQ Administrator Certification (or equivalent relevant certification).
