Electronics Product Design Engineer Role

This senior-level position entails leading technical investigations into hardware-related field failures and customer returns. Systematic root cause analysis will be performed using methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone, or 5-Whys to identify the source of defects.

Simulating field failure conditions in a lab environment will aid in replicating and diagnosing issues effectively. Collaboration with Field Application Engineers and customer support teams is essential for gathering data and understanding the context of field problems.

The primary engineering point of contact for the manufacturing line will resolve hardware-related issues affecting production yield or quality. Analyzing production test data, troubleshooting, and resolving issues with production test fixtures and diagnostic tools are crucial responsibilities.

Hardware component obsolescence management involves identifying, qualifying, and validating alternative or substitute components. Rigorous testing ensures that new components do not negatively impact product performance, reliability, or compliance.

Initiating, documenting, and managing Engineering Change Orders for all hardware modifications is also a key responsibility. Maintaining and updating design documentation, including schematics, Bills of Materials, and PCB layout files, is vital.

Creating comprehensive RCA reports detailing the investigation process, findings, and corrective preventive actions is essential. Additionally, maintaining meticulous records of all investigations, tests, and resolutions is necessary for future reference and knowledge sharing.

Clear and concise status updates to management and other stakeholders are required. The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, along with 3-5 years of experience in embedded hardware design and a strong focus on post-launch support, testing, or sustenance engineering.
