Import Ocean Freight Manager

Job Description
  • We are seeking a highly experienced Import Ocean Freight Manager to lead and manage our import ocean freight operations.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for developing pricing strategies, negotiating rates with carriers, and maintaining strong relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage import ocean freight operations for FCL, LCL, and consolidation.
  2. Develop pricing strategies, negotiate rates with carriers, and maintain relationships with shipping lines, co-loaders, and overseas agents.
  3. Oversee pre-alerts, booking coordination, documentation, customs compliance, and end-to-end import shipment handling.
  4. Coordinate with internal departments to ensure timely cargo clearance and delivery.
  5. Ensure compliance with all local and international import regulations, customs laws, and trade compliance requirements.
  6. Develop and implement SOPs to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and turnaround time for import processes.
  7. Manage the import operations team by allocating resources, setting KPIs, monitoring performance, and providing ongoing training.
  8. Monitor departmental P&L and ensure cost control.
  9. Collaborate with sales and business development teams to identify new opportunities and grow the import customer base.
  10. Provide high standards of customer service, promptly resolving issues and ensuring consistent client satisfaction.
  11. Generate regular MIS/reports for senior management on import operations, cost efficiency, and process improvements.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong knowledge of international import practices, customs clearance procedures, documentation, and INCOTERMS.
  • Excellent leadership and people management abilities.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
