**Job Title:** 3D Laser Scanning Site Engineer


Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced 3D laser scanning site engineer to join our team. This is a field-intensive role that requires frequent site travel, physical fitness, and strict adherence to safety protocols.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform handheld and tripod-mounted scans ensuring correct start/stop, device orientation, overlap, and steady movement.
  • Plan and execute aerial LiDAR/photogrammetry surveys, including flight path planning, overlap checks, and compliance with permissions/safety rules.
  • Capture high-resolution images and videos for visual context and photogrammetry with consistency and accuracy.
  • Establish control points, record targets, log vertical/horizontal datum, and ensure proper site referencing.
  • Record site-specific measurements (heights, clearances, PQC thickness, offsets, etc.) and maintain proper documentation.
  • Identify special site features (utilities, obstructions, vegetation, pipelines) and geo-tag them accurately.
  • Perform immediate checks of collected data (point clouds, imagery, video) to confirm completeness before leaving site. Ensure backups, metadata management (naming conventions, device logs, timestamps, operator details) and organized dataset handover.
  • Conduct pre-scan device checks, routine calibrations, battery management, and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
  • Liaise with site SPOCs, obtain required permissions, ensure minimal disruption, and promptly escalate site access issues.
  • Follow strict safety protocols, wear PPE, and comply with drone/local aviation regulations.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Geomatics, Construction Technology, or related fields.
  • Proven field experience on construction sites (surveying, site engineering, or scanning operations).
  • Hands-on experience with terrestrial scanners LITHIC/HESAI preferred. Experience with FARO, Leica, Trimble, or MID devices is acceptable.
  • Practical knowledge of handheld walkthrough scanning workflows (start/stop discipline, orientation control, overlap, steady speed).
  • Familiarity with GNSS/RTK surveying workflows and control setup.
  • Comfortable working outdoors, lifting equipment, and traveling frequently for site work.


Desirable Skills:

  • Drone piloting (UAV) with aerial LiDAR/photogrammetry experience.
  • Knowledge of point-cloud processing tools (CloudCompare, ReCap, Cyclone) and referencing in AutoCAD/Revit.
  • Strong data hygiene practices field documentation, backups, file naming conventions.
  • Exposure to multi-modal data workflows and project handoffs.
