Migration Engineer

As a Migration Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable and efficient migration pipelines to move enterprise-level data workloads to open-source or cloud-native platforms. You will leverage scripting languages such as Python, Go, and Bash to provision migration steps, automate validation, rollback, and monitoring tasks.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement automated migration pipelines for moving enterprise-level data workloads to open-source or cloud-native clusters.
  • Utilize scripting skills to provision migration steps, automate validation, rollback, and monitoring tasks to ensure seamless integration.
  • Develop custom plugins for Kafka Connect as part of migration workflows to enhance scalability and efficiency.
  • Build robust CI/CD processes for provisioning data resources and configuration rollouts, guaranteeing high-quality deployments.
  • Implement automated tests to cover data integrity, performance, and integration interfaces post-migration, ensuring the highest standards are met.
  • Integrate with cloud orchestration services (AWS MSK, Kubernetes operators), manage infrastructure-as-code, and leverage containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes) for streamlined deployment.
  • Skills and Technologies:
  • CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
  • IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Apache Kafka administration and migration
  • Scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash)
  • Kafka Connect custom plugin API, Maven/Gradle
  • Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Monitoring/validation: Prometheus, Grafana
  • Automation of rollback/validation steps for migrations
  • Exposure to cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Data ops and security automation

Requirements:

  • Experience in Apache Kafka administration and scripting languages (Python, Go, Bash)
  • Knowledge of containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Understanding of CI/CD processes and IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Proficiency in programming languages and development frameworks
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
