
Ecommerce Marketplace Strategist

The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) is a senior-level client-facing role responsible for managing and scaling eCommerce marketplace businesses across multiple platforms. This role combines strategy, operations, and account growth to support enterprise-level clients in achieving revenue and GMV goals.

- Internal & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Serving as the primary point of contact for marketplace clients, ensuring strategic alignment and client satisfaction.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, platform stakeholders, and internal cross-functional teams.
- Leading regular strategy calls, executive touchpoints, and business reviews.
- Defining goals around GMV, profitability, and channel diversification with clients.
- Developing data-backed marketplace strategies aligned with industry trends and client goals.
- Monitoring competitor performance and executing initiatives such as seasonal selling, global expansion, and fulfillment scoping (FBA, WFS).
- Tracking and optimizing KPIs like Sell-Through Rate (STR), fulfillment lead times, and pricing effectiveness.
- Ensuring product listings, keywords, and campaign structures follow best practices for each marketplace.
- Delivering regular performance updates and dashboards on GMV, operational health, and ad efficiency.
- Using platform analytics to guide strategy on promotions, expansion, and budget recommendations.
- Mitigating risks related to sales decline, compliance issues, or fulfillment disruptions.
- Identifying upsell opportunities and leading conversations on new marketplaces, ad tools, or catalog expansion.
- Supporting revenue retention and renewal processes by demonstrating clear ROI.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- 3-9 years of experience managing eCommerce marketplace accounts (Amazon, Walmart, eBay, etc.).
- Hands-on knowledge of retail marketplace tools and seller portals (e.g., Seller Central, Marketplace APIs).
- Strong analytical skills; ability to translate data into clear strategies and recommendations.
- Excellent client communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership abilities.
- Familiarity with BI tools and other technical skills preferred.
