Process Director Job Description

A Process Director is a senior-level professional with extensive experience in process engineering, responsible for leading and managing teams to design, develop, and optimize processes within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and lifesciences sectors.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Technical Expertise:
  1. Carry out basic and detailed engineering work, including process calculations like heat & mass balance, utility sizing, and equipment data sheet preparation.
  2. Have knowledge of simulation software's such as HYSYS, ASPEN, and be able to prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs).
  3. Be able to review all aspects of design and construction for consistency and safety, including leading Hazop and PHA Reviews.
  4. Perform process engineering calculations, such as thermal rating of heat exchangers, and hydraulics.
  5. Carry out capacity mapping of biotech projects using schedules.
Business Acumen:
  1. Have strong knowledge on layout designing of API, OSD, Sterile, and Biotech projects.
  2. Be aware of regulatory requirements of USFDA, MHRA, and WHO.
  3. Have sound knowledge on area classification and man material flow concepts.
  4. Be well-versed in latest ISPE guidelines.
  5. Be able to select equipment based on criteria like fermentation, bioreactors, TFF, chromatography, filling lines, etc.
Leadership:
  1. Lead teams to ensure project deliverables are met within time and budget constraints.
  2. Improve productivity by reducing rework and errors.
  3. Maintain contact with other disciplines/groups to ensure proper interchange of information and documents.
