About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Expert to design, implement, and optimize data governance and compliance solutions for our clients using Microsoft Purview.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement comprehensive Microsoft Purview solutions that align with client business objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Lead technical discovery workshops to assess client environments and develop tailored data governance architectures.
  • Configure and deploy Purview Data Map, Data Catalog, Data Estate Insights, and Data Sharing components.
  • Plan and execute migrations from classic compliance and security portals to the unified Microsoft Purview portal.
  • Manage Purview subscription migrations, consolidations, and tenant transitions with minimal business disruption.
  • Develop strategies for preserving policies, settings, and data during portal upgrades and subscription transfers.
  • Integrate Purview with Azure services, Microsoft 365, and other data sources including SQL Server, Azure Data Lake, Power BI, and third-party platforms.
  • Implement automated data scanning, classification, and sensitivity labeling using Purview's capabilities.
  • Design and configure data lineage tracking across hybrid environments.
  • Develop governance policies, approval workflows, and access controls for sensitive data.
  • Create custom metadata taxonomies and business glossaries to enhance data discoverability.
  • Implement data loss prevention (DLP) and insider risk management solutions.
  • Configure Purview's compliance and risk management capabilities to meet regulatory requirements (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Optimize Purview performance and scale for enterprise environments.
  • Develop migration strategies from legacy data governance tools to Microsoft Purview.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior consultants and documentation for client handover.
  • Stay current with Microsoft Purview roadmap and incorporate new features into solution designs.

Qualifications:

We require a strong understanding of Microsoft Purview components, migration expertise, integration expertise, and complementary technologies.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, information management, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview or Azure Purview.
  • Proven experience migrating from classic Microsoft security and compliance portals to the unified Purview portal.
  • Experience with Purview subscription management, including transfers, consolidations, and cross-tenant migrations.
  • A strong understanding of Microsoft's data governance and compliance ecosystem.
  • Proven experience implementing enterprise-scale Purview solutions.
  • Deep knowledge of data classification, cataloging, and lineage tracking methodologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) and sensitivity labels.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Data services (Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, etc.).
  • Experience navigating and supporting clients through Microsoft's portal and licensing changes.
  • A strong understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Experience with PowerShell, Azure CLI, and Infrastructure as Code tools.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
