System Support Specialist

Job Description
  • The System Support Specialist will work closely with customers to resolve technical problems, providing timely assistance and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Diagnose complex hardware, software, and network-related issues, conducting independent research to find technical solutions when necessary.
  • Transfer non-technical service issues to relevant teams and assist with administrative tasks as required.
  • Provide guidance on configuring and optimizing products to ensure effective services.
  • Maintain and improve incident management software and database.
  • Support on-site installations and training as needed.
  • Prioritize after-hours and weekend work, participating in a 24/7 telephone support rotation.
  • Collaborate with internal and field teams to resolve questions and issues.
  • Serve as an expert on product support, facilitating training and maintaining a database of training videos.
  • Communicate customer needs, issues, and trends to the engineering and product management teams.
  • Identify and champion product enhancement requests.
  • Create knowledge articles, webinars, and other materials to support customers.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Extensive customer interaction experience.
  • Expert knowledge of system administration for Unix/Linux operating systems, including Solaris, RedHat Linux, and AIX.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Understanding of customer satisfaction and desire to exceed expectations.
  • Familiarity with clustering technologies, such as VERITAS VCS, IBM HACMP, HP Serviceguard, and MSCS.
  • Understanding of cryptographic principles and concepts, including public key exchange, digital signatures, and data communications.
  • Solid networking experience with a background in TCP/IP networks.
