Indirect Tax Litigation Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage tax matters, including preparation of submissions, responses to notices, appeals and representation during meetings with tax authorities.
  • Assist clients in responding to the department during inquiries, investigations and audits.
  • Prepare replies to show cause notices/audit replies and meet with tax officers for hearings as required.
  • Prepare and file tax appeals at Joint Commissioner (Appeals) and Court levels.
  • Support senior professionals for representation before judicial forums and conduct comprehensive research on various topics.
Client Service Delivery:
  • Identify and discuss technical issues with clients while ensuring firm risk considerations.
  • Execute work on multiple client bases with near independent responsibility for smaller clients.
  • Develop rapport with middle layers of client management.
Business Acumen:
  • Stay updated on firm-wide activities, competitor trends and general business developments.
  • Apply knowledge to deliver solutions to clients and bring value to the manager.
Networking & Opportunity Identification:
  • Identify new opportunities for existing clients and communicate with senior.
  • Network internally to gain understanding of issues impacting clients.
Knowledge Management:
  • Stay current on latest tax and law developments.
  • Contribute to firm's knowledge management activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent Communication and Drafting Skills.
  • Strong Analytical and Researching Skills.
  • Proactive, reliable and detail-oriented.

Experience and Education:

  • Law Graduate from a known Law School with strong academic track record.
  • 1-3 years of post-qualification experience in Indirect Tax is preferred.
