Senior Data Engineer – SQL

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our data-driven team. As a key member, you will be responsible for analyzing, debugging, and resolving complex data quality issues across multiple related tables.

This is a remote opportunity ideal for professionals with strong SQL development experience and a passion for problem-solving.

As a seasoned data professional, you will thrive in a collaborative environment and have the ability to work independently on challenging data projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze, debug, and resolve data quality issues using advanced SQL queries and joins.
  • Develop complex database solutions using tools like Phinx, Flyway, or Liquibase.
  • Collaborate with product and QA teams to validate fixes and ensure reproducibility.
  • Document root cause analysis (RCA) clearly and communicate solutions with stakeholders.
  • Work with Jira for ticket management and maintaining proper workflow.

Required Skills:

  • Advanced SQL Development – strong hands-on experience with complex joins, aggregations, and performance optimization.
  • Database Migration & Rollback Experience – familiarity with schema migrations and rollback tools.
  • Data Validation & QA – ability to design and execute validation steps to ensure accuracy.
  • Experience with clinical trial systems, CTMS, EDC, or multi-tenant platforms (desired).
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Experience in ETL processes, data pipelines, or big data technologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP BigQuery).
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
