Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled professional to design rooftop solar systems with strong expertise in SketchUp.

  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience in creating 2D and 3D rooftop designs, with the ability to model solar panels, mounting structures, and rooftop obstacles accurately.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop accurate 2D and 3D rooftop solar designs in SketchUp, including models of solar panels, mounting structures, and rooftop elements.
  2. Create sketchup models with precise dimensions, incorporating rooftop obstacles such as water tanks, HVAC systems, and vents.
  3. Use the mounting structure library to design panel layouts that meet technical and structural requirements.
  4. Make design decisions regarding cleaning and maintenance access, overhangs for maximum generation while ensuring safety and feasibility.
  5. Optimize panel placement for maximum utilization of rooftop space while maintaining shading and clearance guidelines.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in SketchUp solar design (rooftop PV projects preferred).
  • Strong understanding of rooftop solar project requirements, shading considerations, and structural layouts.
  • Ability to interpret technical inputs (site surveys, roof dimensions, structural drawings) into workable models.
  • Familiarity with solar mounting structures and ability to apply them within designs.
  • Attention to detail for accurate modeling and measurements.
  • Good visualization skills to create professional design presentations.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative on minor design decisions.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Sketchup and Skalion.
  • Knowledge of solar engineering basics (tilt, azimuth, orientation, shading, generation estimates).
