Operations Manager: Key Responsibilities and Expectations

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish strategic partnerships with suppliers, vendors, and stakeholders to source high-quality raw materials in loose or bale form (Polyolefins- HDPE and PP)
  • Develop and implement effective segregation processes for scrap materials based on quality standards
  • Oversee site-level production teams to ensure timely and efficient production
  • Formulate go-to-market strategies for sales to recyclers and manufacturers
  • Collaborate with partners to enhance the value of feedstock through washing flakes or granules
  • Create a market demand for various Polyolefin products (HDPE and PP)
  • Ensure factory compliance and manage profit and loss accounts
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for plastic waste aggregation, segregation, QA, and QC (Polyolefins- HDPE and PP)
  • Continuously improve SOPs to optimize performance using Lean manufacturing principles and six sigma design processes
  • Identify and implement key projects and kaizens to increase productivity and meet targets
  • Guarantee timely implementation of projects within approved budgets
Reporting and Documentation
  • Provide regular, concise, and accurate reports on project progress in prescribed formats
  • Standardize machine inspection check sheets, pre-dispatch check sheets, and operation check sheets at site level
  • Ensure segregation is carried out according to required quality standards
General Responsibilities
  • Maintain professionalism at all times and demonstrate exceptional prioritization skills
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, SOPs, and protocols across all levels
  • Uphold strict data confidentiality and security
  • Be willing to travel frequently across company site locations, sometimes at short notice, as per project or company needs
  • Work closely with the company team and partners
Requirements
  • Degree in Chemical/ Mechanical/ Plastics Engineering. MBA would be an added advantage
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in Operations
  • Strong Sales / Customer relationship management skills, negotiation skills, vendor/stakeholder management skills, and excellent networking skills
  • Good understanding of plastics and plastic recycling
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively, focusing the team and driving results
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission
  • Fluent in English & Tamil. In addition, Hindi would be an advantage
