Electrical Draftsman Job Description

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Electrical Draftsman with hands-on experience in AutoCAD and Revit (MEP). The ideal candidate should be familiar with electrical design standards, equipment clearance requirements, and drafting practices in industrial, infrastructure, or substation projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and Revit (3D):
  • Develop accurate and standards-compliant 2D and 3D electrical drawings. A strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in Revit MEP and custom family creation, ensuring model components reflect actual manufacturer specs and functional design requirements.
  • Preparation of Single Line Diagrams (SLDs):
  • Draft clear and well-structured SLDs based on project scope and load flow requirements.
  • Preparation of Electrical Equipment Layouts:
  • Prepare layouts that consider equipment spacing, access, bus duct arrangement, maintenance zones, safety clearances, and compliance with standard electrical room layout norms.
  • Preparation of Electrical Cable Routing Drawings:
  • Draft cable trays, trenches, and conduit routes while ensuring minimum bending radius, separation between power and control cables, and fire safety clearances as per applicable standards.
  • Preparation of Lighting Layouts:
  • Create interior and exterior lighting layouts considering lux level requirements, mounting height, spacing criteria, and lighting control zones as per design standards.
  • Preparation of Earthing & Lightning Protection Layouts:
  • Understand and apply grounding and lightning protection standards (e.g., IS 3043, IEC 62305), and prepare grounding layouts with proper electrode spacing, earth pits, and conductor routing.
  • Preparation of Switchyard Layouts (11kV, 33kV, 66kV, 132kV):
  • Familiar with substation design principles, equipment positioning, busbar routing, safety clearance requirements, and zone-wise segregation as per CEA guidelines and IS/IEC standards.
  • Preparation of Foundation Drawings:
  • Prepare foundation plans for electrical equipment such as transformers, panels, and outdoor structures, ensuring coordination with civil teams and adherence to equipment weight, vibration, and anchoring requirements.
  • Clash Detection using Navisworks:
  • Perform interdisciplinary clash checks between electrical, mechanical, and civil models to avoid installation issues. Should be able to interpret clash reports and coordinate with design teams for resolution.
  • Reading and Understanding Numeration & Architectural Drawings:
  • Interpret architectural and structural drawings, identifying reference levels, penetrations, and embedded conduits for effective coordination.
  • Communication Skills:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to coordinate effectively with internal teams. Should be able to report design changes, raise queries, and document revisions clearly.
