Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned professional to fill the role of Senior Design Leader. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the design process and ensuring that our projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with design disciplines to ensure seamless integration of designs and solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with senior staff across the organization and regional offices.
  • Stay up-to-date with our services and industry trends to enhance personal networking and credibility within the company.
  • Oversee an assigned scope of work, ensuring tasks are allocated effectively and resources are utilized efficiently.
  • Manage team performance, identifying and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Develop and present design options to maximize profitability and drive implementation.
  • Provide technical advice to team members to support project delivery and professional development.
  • Maintain effective financial and management controls to enable monitoring, modification, and forecasting of tasks as needed.
  • Ensure high-quality work is produced by the team, collaborating with other disciplines to integrate overall designs or solutions.
  • Verify complex elements of work through verification checking.
  • Manage the production and quality of designs, associated documentation, and reports to meet expectations and national standards.
  • Ensure effective communication of changes and modifications through quality assurance and feedback from regional offices.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Project Directors and Managers in regional offices to facilitate smooth communication and issue resolution.
  • Prepare a personalized development plan with your line manager during the Professional Development Review process and take ownership of achieving identified goals.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency in FLAC 2D and 3D, Plaxis 2D/3D, Geostudio, Wallap, REPUTE, and other geotechnical software.
  • Leadership skills to direct and advise team members, supporting project delivery and professional growth.
  • Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment and take responsibility/accountability for performance and junior team members' performance.
  • Understanding and compliance with professional institution codes of conduct.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, recognizing obligations to society, the profession, and the environment.
  • Effective interpersonal and social skills.
  • Ability to manage diversity issues.
  • Technical ownership of safe design processes considering safety during construction, operation, and decommissioning through hazard identification and risk assessment.
