Job Opportunity: Technical Design Lead

The position of Technical Design Lead is crucial in overseeing the liaison between technical design teams and factories. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a minimum of 10 years of experience in garment development, and a deep understanding of fit, patternmaking, grading, technical construction, costing, and fabrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with factories to ensure execution of high standards in construction, fit, and workmanship.
  • Review samples before sending to HQ, evaluating accuracy and ensuring compliance with established standards.
  • Identify and address process and product challenges throughout the development cycle.
  • Collaborate closely with production teams to resolve potential problems proactively.
  • Co-manage block building with vendors and review tools for fit standards.
  • Evaluate and refine grading processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent English language skills.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in garment development, including woven & knit tops, dresses, technical outerwear, tailored garments, soft bottoms, and equestrian show apparel.
  • Deep expertise and understanding of fit, patternmaking, grading, technical construction, costing, and fabrics.
  • A trained eye for proportion, balance, and aesthetic details.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Extensive experience working with factories, including a thorough understanding of equipment, garment cutting/sewing/QA/QC processes.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Adobe Illustrator, MS Office Suite, Centric PLM (or similar PLM system), and 2D patternmaking systems (Accumark a plus).
  • Exceptional multitasking, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and influence partners and vendors.
  • Fast-paced and adaptable individual who can quickly respond to change.
  • Passion for managing product lifecycles and meeting deadlines.
  • Curiosity and drive for improving processes and efficiency.

Travel Requirements:

This role requires travel to vendors and factories up to 50% of the time, with locations including India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
