Job Title: Senior Structural Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced structural design engineer to join our team.

  • Carry out feasibility studies for strengthening and repair of bridges.
  • Prepare new bridge design and strengthening design to UK standards.
  • Carry out design and assessment checks under the guidance of a senior or principal engineer.
  • Compile drawings, specifications, reports, and correspondence within given deadlines.
  • Follow QA, document control, archiving, and CDM guidelines on all work.

The successful candidate will ensure the correct implementation of document control and QA processes are followed for issue and filing/archiving of all work carried out.

They will produce work to specified WSP design standards, suggest revisions to standards as appropriate, and ensure all relevant standards and guides are used in accordance with UK design standards and WSP QA processes.

Additionally, they will ensure compliance with AIP or other project requirements, use WSP calculation templates, and ensure calculation sheets comply with WSP standards.

They will also use WSP technical library and information systems to assist design work and ensure only the latest version of British and European Standards are used.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, self-motivated, and adaptable, with a strong desire to develop and increase skills in MIDAS, LUSAS, Superstress, SAM, ARCHIE, and other computer-aided design software.

They will participate in team meetings and learning sessions to disseminate information within the team and communicate with other teams.

Continually striving for a 'First Time Right' culture, they will learn from own and other's mistakes to avoid repetition and continuously improve their skills and knowledge.
