Job Overview:

The Water Treatment Chemist oversees the operation, maintenance, and quality assurance of a Demineralisation (DM) Water Treatment Plant ensuring uninterrupted and high-purity water supply for boiler and turbine operations.

  • Water Management & Quality Assurance: Manage and supervise the entire DM water treatment process including RO, EDI, Softener, Degasser Tower, and Mixed Bed units to ensure consistent and reliable DM water supply with required quality parameters.
  • Equipment Performance & Maintenance: Ensure optimal performance and preventive maintenance of DM plant equipment, dosing systems, pumps, and control panels; troubleshoot process issues like conductivity spikes, regeneration failures, or membrane fouling.
  • Documentation & Compliance Management: Maintain daily logs, chemical usage records, test reports, and regeneration schedules; prepare reports for internal audits, environmental monitoring, and compliance with CPCB/SPCB norms.
  • Boiler Chemistry Interface: Collaborate with boiler operations team to ensure feedwater and steam chemistry compliance; monitor condensate polishing unit (CPU) performance and manage condensate quality.
  • Team Supervision & Safety Protocols: Supervise a team of water treatment technicians/operators; conduct training and toolbox talks on chemical handling, safe plant operation, and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities:
