Job Title: Video Editor

The role of a video editor is to bring a story to life through the use of various media assets, while ensuring that all content aligns with the narrative and client guidelines.

To achieve this, the successful candidate will be responsible for selecting and implementing relevant media assets from our internal database and external sources. This includes searching for high-quality video and image assets that enhance the visual storytelling aspect of the content.

  • Selecting and filtering media assets to ensure relevance and accuracy in relation to the narrative and client guidelines.
  • Ensuring that all selected media is current and up-to-date by filtering for recent assets within a 72-hour to one-month timeframe.
  • Properly documenting and attributing media sources to maintain licensing compliance.

Content Quality Management:

  • Verifying that all media used is contextually relevant to the content, avoiding generic or unrelated footage.
  • Ensuring precise matching when featuring specific people, events, or teams.
  • Maintaining contextual accuracy between narrative and visual elements.
  • Developing creative solutions when exact media matches are not available.
  • Avoiding misleading visual contexts that contradict the narrative message.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in video production, digital content creation, or media curation.
  • Strong visual storytelling instincts and understanding of narrative alignment.
  • Excellent research skills for finding specific, relevant media assets.
  • Proficiency with stock media platforms and free usage catalogues.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and quality.
  • Understanding of different video formats and aspect ratios.
  • Ability to work efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.

Preferred Skills:

  • Background in journalism, media studies, or related fields.
  • Experience with media asset management systems.
  • Knowledge of brand guidelines implementation in video content.
  • Understanding of media licensing and proper attribution practices.
