Job Summary:

A highly skilled SQL Server DBA is needed to lead database upgrades, Always On Availability Groups design and management, and cloud migrations.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in upgrading, migrating, and maintaining mission-critical databases to ensure performance, availability, security, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute complex SQL Server upgrade projects, including migration from legacy versions to SQL Server 2022 with minimal downtime.
  • Design, configure, and manage Always On Availability Groups (HA/DR) in production environments for optimal data integrity and business continuity.
  • Plan and implement strategic database migrations to AWS (RDS, EC2, or other services) ensuring seamless transitions.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize SQL Server performance by analyzing queries, indexes, statistics, and execution plans.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including runbooks and standard operating procedures, to ensure best practices and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure database reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, policies, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a senior SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
  • Proven track record of successful SQL Server upgrades to 2022 in production environments.
  • Strong expertise in Always On Availability Groups and other high-availability solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS database migration tools (DMS, RDS, EC2, or hybrid solutions).
  • Proficiency in T-SQL development, performance tuning, and query optimization techniques.
  • Solid understanding of backup/recovery strategies and database security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills are essential.
