Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineering Specialist

We are looking for a highly skilled and proactive Manufacturing Engineer to join our fast-paced team at Basil, a pioneering startup in the field of automated robotic food and beverage kiosks. The ideal candidate will contribute significantly during the design and production phases, ensuring seamless vendor coordination and guaranteeing the quality of components.

Basil is the first go-to brand for H.E.A.L.T.H. and nutrition food needs. Our mission is to connect healthy communities to personalized & real food, solving supply chain challenges using technology. As an IIT Delhi alumni-founded, VC-funded early-stage startup, we are making an automated robotic food and beverage kiosk to serve fresh, healthy, affordable food. This is a challenging problem requiring intense effort because we need to build a new product from scratch very fast while maintaining food safety, accuracy, and quality.

About the Role:

This role is ideal for someone with a background in mechanical or production engineering who is highly organized and thrives in a dynamic environment. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for providing valuable inputs during the design phase to facilitate efficient manufacturing of Sheet Metal components. You will work closely with the development team and vendors to plan manufacturing timelines based on external and internal dependencies. You will also setup and manage vendors for various manufacturing processes and raw material procurement, expanding the vendor network to improve reliability and reduce manufacturing costs.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide valuable inputs during the design phase to facilitate efficient manufacturing of Sheet Metal components.
2. Work closely with the development team and vendors to plan manufacturing timelines based on external and internal dependencies.
3. Setup and manage vendors for various manufacturing processes and raw material procurement.
4. Expand the vendor network for the company to improve reliability and reduce manufacturing costs.
5. Evaluate and troubleshoot manufacturing processes and machinery.
6. Execute DFMA (Design for Manufacturing and Assembly) on designed components and assemblies, suggesting changes for cost reduction and improved functionality.
7. Ensure timely delivery of components to the assembly team.
8. Handle interactions and negotiations with vendors to ensure cost-effective procurement and production.
9. Establish processes to support rapid scaling from prototype to batch production, mitigating any delays.
10. Maintain a high level of team coordination and identify areas for improvement in processes to enhance manufacturing standards and product quality.
11. Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
12. Generate ideas for fixtures, assembly jigs, and process improvements.
13. Ensure the quality of manufactured components meets the required standards.

Requirements:

- Experience in Sheet Metal Components is a plus.
- Sound knowledge of Structural Mechanics, Weldments, Plastics, and Sheet Metal operations.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes including turning, milling, laser cutting, bending, rolling, molding, surface finishing, and welding processes.
- Good knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and welding symbols.
- Good knowledge of metrology, such as using vernier calipers, angle gauges, Screw gauges etc.
- Ability to create 3D models using software like SolidWorks/Catia (Sheet Metal design, part design, assembly, drafting).
- Competent in using SolidWorks and interpreting engineering drawings effectively.
- Problem-solving mindset with strong troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Strong organizational and management skills.
- Proficient in office tools like Microsoft Office and Excel.

Salary: ₹800,000 - ₹1,200,000 per annum
