Senior Data Engineer Position

Overview of the Role:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for working closely with various stakeholders to understand business requirements and design data architectures that meet the organization's needs. This includes developing scalable, reliable, and high-performance data processing pipelines, as well as providing research and estimates for data transformation and integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to comprehend business processes and develop relevant data solutions.
  • Design and implement dimensional and fact tables based on organizational requirements.
  • Identify and execute data transformation/cleansing requirements to ensure data integrity.
  • Develop a highly efficient data processing pipeline to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
  • Conceptualize, create, and maintain data models with associated metadata, including data lineage and technical definitions.
  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows and mappings using suitable data load techniques.
  • Provide support for ETL processes to guarantee timely completion and availability of data in the warehouse for reporting purposes.
  • Investigate and resolve problems, offering necessary technical assistance.
  • Partner with the Business Intelligence team to evaluate, design, and develop BI reports and dashboards in line with functional specifications while maintaining data quality and integrity.
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to translate business information needs into clear data requirements for implementing BI solutions.
  • Leverage transactional data, as well as information from ERP, CRM, and HRIS applications, to model, extract, and transform it into reporting and analytics formats.
  • Establish and document the use of BI through user experience/use cases, prototypes, testing, and deploying BI solutions.
  • Support data governance processes, analyze data to identify trends, patterns, outliers, and quality issues, and continuously validate reports and dashboards, suggesting improvements.
  • Train end-users, IT analysts, and developers on data-related topics.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent field of study.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Data Warehousing, Data Engineering, or Data Integration projects.
  • Proficiency with data warehousing concepts, strategies, and tools.
  • Strong SQL background.
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
  • Experience with GCP & Google BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Composer (Airflow), Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Function, and GCS.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is advantageous.
  • Awareness of AWS and Azure Cloud platforms is beneficial.
  • Experience with Informatica Power exchange for Mainframe, Salesforce, and other modern data sources.
  • Expertise in integrating data using APIs, XML, JSON, and other data formats.
  • In-depth understanding of database management systems, OLAP, and ETL frameworks, data warehouses, and Data Lakes.
  • Good grasp of SDLC, Agile, and Scrum methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, multitasking, and organizational skills.
  • Highly proficient in handling large volumes of business data and strong knowledge of database design and implementation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams spread across multiple locations.
