**Pastry Cook Role Overview**

This position is responsible for creating a variety of pastry and dessert items according to established recipes and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare pastry and dessert items as assigned by the head pastry chef.
  • Assign tasks in the pastry department, which can be changed periodically to ensure exposure to different tasks.
  • Manage aspects of pastry production.
  • Set up pastry displays on buffets as required.
  • Assist in transporting food items from storage to the pastry area when needed.
  • Clean and sanitize working areas and utensils in accordance with health regulations.
  • Occasionally stand by early in the pastry area for health purposes.
  • Aware of and/or acquire necessary knowledge to comply with operational standards, assist guests and crew members with inquiries.
  • Attend meetings, training activities, courses, and other work-related events as necessary.

Required Qualifications and Education:

  • Minimum two years' experience as a Pastry Cook in an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship or convention catering service (shipboard experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements, and equipment usage.
  • Completion of high school or equivalent education requirement.
