AVP Legal Position OverviewJob Description:

The AVP Legal role is a critical position within the Legal leadership team, reporting directly to the Group Chief Legal Officer (GCLO). In this capacity, you will work closely with senior management and stakeholders to provide strategic legal advice on complex issues influencing business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver comprehensive legal counsel to inform business decisions and drive strategic growth.
  2. Manage relationships with external counsel, collaborating on litigation strategy and ensuring seamless execution.
  3. Oversee the legal aspects of company operations, encompassing corporate deals and contracts.
  4. Lead funding transactions from a legal perspective, guiding external counsel and optimizing outcomes.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • CORPORATE DEALS: Spearhead equity deals, ensuring timely closure and addressing outstanding matters.
  • CONTRACTS: Oversee the contracts function, drafting, negotiating, and finalizing agreements with third-party vendors.
  • M&A/ CORPORATE FINANCE: Defend indemnity claims, draft responses, and support the Corporate Finance team in SPV governance.
  • BUSINESS ACQUISITION: Collaborate with the Business Acquisition team in competitive bids, review bid documents, and issue risk analysis reports.
  • POLICY ADVOCACY: Provide general legal advisory services, review proposed regulations, and support policy advocacy efforts.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will be a law graduate from a reputable institution, possessing 15+ years of experience in multinational companies, preferably in power, infrastructure, or energy sectors. They should demonstrate sound commercial understanding, excellent communication skills, and ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in power, infrastructure, or energy sectors.
