Senior Fund Accountant Role

The fund accounting role is a critical position that requires a high degree of professionalism, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure completeness of financial records of Alternative Investment Funds (AIF), including accounting, banking, reconciliations, and expense payments.
  • Manage daily operations of AIF Funds according to the Fund Documents and coordinate with the fund administrator.
  • Provide support in managing the financial accounts of the funds through liaison with internal resources to meet the applicable monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.
  • Assist in statutory and other regulatory audit processes, including inspection from regulatory bodies, and ensure seamless closure within the timelines.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring investor reporting within the timeframe agreed in the documents and regulations, including MIS management for financial performance.
  • Ensuring timeliness of various tax filings as required for the AIF, including tax payments, tax returns, tax assessment, and any other activities as required under the applicable regulations.
  • Compliance management of the AIF from a regulatory standpoint, including all regulatory filings as may be required per the regulations and Limited Partner (LP) agreements.
  • Calculating, reviewing, and managing investor distributions as per Fund documents.
  • Stakeholder management, including auditors, trustees, bankers, custodians, fund accounting professionals, tax advisors, legal Advisors, and other stakeholders, on a timely basis.
  • Working closely with the Fund accounting team to partner with the investment team to validate the funds' valuation and the asset management team to produce reports to LPs.
  • Maintaining internal trackers and checklists to ensure all areas of AIF are effectively monitored.
Requirements:
  • Approximately 7-10 years of experience in fund accounting, preferably with a Chartered Accountant or CPA license or Big-4 public accounting experience.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of AIF, SEBI regulations, and IFSCA is preferred.
  • Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced, high growth environment.
  • Strong command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for stakeholder management.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize complex information both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and manage various deadlines.
  • Knowledge of financial markets and instruments is preferred.
  • Requires day-to-day use of MS Office applications, with advanced skills in Excel preferred.
