R&D Engineer/Scientist II Job Description

The R&D Engineer/Scientist II plays a pivotal role in leading and managing R&D capital projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to resource constraints.

Key responsibilities include supervising final negotiations for allocated R&D capital projects, providing execution strategy inclusive of project charter, and ensuring the R&D capital project schedule baseline is signed by involved parties at project start.

Additional responsibilities encompass overall R&D capital project schedule management in the execution phase, achieving project goals and objectives, and leading project teams to improve cost, schedule, quality, and EHS targets.

Additionally, the R&D Engineer/Scientist II performs risk and opportunity management, negotiates with clients, partners, and/or contractors, prepares and conducts project reviews as requested, and maintains corresponding relationships with clients, partners, and main contractors.

Furthermore, this role owns project execution processes and tools, establishes, implements, and maintains operating standards.

Functional/Technical Authority:
  1. FOLLOW HS&E policies and guidelines, ensuring all personnel engaged in NPD are aware of HS&E policies and requirements.
  2. Advise on safe design, construction, and operation of laboratory and pilot plant test facilities.
  3. Evaluate technical feasibility of externally and internally proposed projects, ensuring they meet Critical to Quality (CTQ) requirements set by Business leadership.
  4. Use commercial simulation programs to simulate and optimize process designs.
  5. Perform techno-economic analysis of pilot and demonstration plant process technology.
  6. Maintain and manage technical knowledge base for pilot plants engineering, design, and construction.
  7. Evaluate and integrate developments in other technology areas for application in assigned technology area.
Basic Candidate Qualifications:
  • Chemical Engineering Degree from a reputed Institute with 8-10 years of work experience.
