User Acquisition Specialist Role
Job DescriptionUser acquisition specialists play a pivotal role in scaling mobile games by attracting high-quality users at scale and maximizing long-term return on investment (ROI). This position requires a mix of technical expertise, strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and collaborative teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:- Technical & Execution:
- Develop and execute user acquisition campaigns across multiple ad platforms, including Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Apple Search Ads, Unity, and other digital advertising networks.
- Manage daily campaign performance, adjusting bids, budgets, targeting, and creatives to achieve cost-per-acquisition (CPA), lifetime value (LTV), and ROI objectives.
- Implement structured A/B tests for campaigns, audiences, and creatives to optimize user engagement and conversion rates.
- Ensure accurate event tracking and configuration across ad platforms and mobile measurement partners (MMPs).
- Collaborate with engineering teams to test and troubleshoot SDK/event integrations.
- Analytical & Reporting:
- Analyze campaign and cohort-level data from ad platforms and MMPs to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Calculate breakeven points and model projected LTV/ROI by user cohorts using advanced analytics tools.
- Understand and act on player journey metrics, including new users, retained users, and reactivated users.
- Build interactive dashboards and performance reports in business intelligence tools like Looker Studio or Power BI.
- Apply predictive modeling and early key performance indicators (KPIs) to forecast long-term user value.
- Strategic:
- Develop and execute a full-funnel user acquisition strategy that integrates acquisition, retention, and re-engagement tactics.
- Create and manage audience strategies, including custom audiences, lookalikes, and retargeting cohorts.
- Design and execute re-engagement campaigns for churned or low-activity users.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to connect user acquisition with retention and monetization strategies.
- Stay current with emerging ad tech trends, platform updates, and user acquisition best practices.
- Creative:
- Collaborate with the creative team to conceptualize and test ad creatives, including video, playable, static, and user-generated content-style ads.
- Design and run creative test campaigns with structured methodologies to minimize false positives/false negatives.
- Analyze creative performance using key metrics and translate findings into actionable insights.
- Build targeted audience categories and ensure visual assets + ad copy are tailored to the right segment.
- Establish creative refresh cycles and rotation strategies to combat ad fatigue.
- Share business-aligned creative insights with stakeholders, linking creative learnings to broader user acquisition strategy.
- Collaboration & Operations:
- Serve as the primary liaison with ad networks, agencies, and internal teams.
- Lead day-to-day campaign operations, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timeliness.
- Share insights and recommendations with stakeholders to influence product and marketing decisions.
The ideal candidate will possess 4+ years of hands-on experience in user acquisition for mobile games, proven expertise with major ad platforms, strong working knowledge of MMPs, and a deep understanding of user acquisition KPIs.
